Meet Julida

I’m Julida Alter (July-duh) — a teacher, mother, musician, and proud granddaughter of postwar immigrants who deeply believes in the American dream.

After World War II, my paternal grandparents spent six years in a displaced persons camp before coming to the United States. Both endured forced labor during the war, and despite extraordinary hardship, they believed America was worth waiting for. Their resilience shaped my belief in freedom, opportunity, hard work, and strong communities.

As an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher and parent in Apple Valley, I see every day what families in Apple Valley, Rosemount, and Eagan care about most: affordable living, strong schools, safe communities, and practical government that reflects everyday priorities.

My husband serves as a firefighter in Apple Valley, and together we have built our lives around serving our community, raising our family, and helping others.

I decided to run because too many families feel like everyday concerns — affordability, school quality, safety, and practical problem solving — are no longer being heard clearly in St. Paul.

I’m running for Minnesota State Senate to bring a calm, practical, family-focused voice to St. Paul — one rooted in service, accountability, and the values that make our communities strong.
